Cusco is a beautiful city ... Around 3400m above sea level ... It has cobble streets and many churchs ...
With our guide Juan, we walked in and around Cusco talking in the sights. Cusco was the capital of the Incan empire ... So there were a lot of Inca ruins (all destroyed by the Spanish).
A few interesting facts about Peru
1) a lot of houses in Peru look in various stages of completion but yet people are still living in them ... This is to avoid paying taxes!! Apparently you don't have to pay property taxes unlit the house is completed ... So the people just add rebar and concrete pillars to indicate that another floor is being built and then leave it like that
2) shops with a yellow drum outside are illegal petrol pumps ... The yellow drums indicate that they gave some petrol to sell
3) a long pole with a red bag fastened to the end and sticking out from a building means the bar is open for business
