We set out early towards the Sacred Valley. First we stopped at an animal sanctuary to see rescued animals including parrots and condors. Then on to Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
Ollantaytambo in an inca ruin inset high into the hills. The stones are big and carved into intricate shapes to fit perfectly together.
Then onto Pisac where is holds a big market ... We then travelled to Moray where the Incas took a natural formation and turned it into a type greenhouse with concentric circular terraces ... The temp difference from the top to the bottom can be as much as 15C. Researchers found plants at the bottom that could only grow further south.
Then we completed the day by visiting the Saltpans. The water coming out of a spring from the mountain is naturally salty. They route the flow into approx 3000 little pools for drying out.
