Day trip to Colonia, Uruguay

45 min ferry ride across the river is Colonia. Since its it Uruguay, we have to go through immigration and customs at the ferry terminal. It's one of the few places in South America that still has both Portuguese and Spanish architecture (from numerous occupations).

It's a beautiful little city ... We happen to go on a bank holiday so there were many people making the day trip

The only detraction from this picturesque city is the brown river. It's one of the widest rivers in the world (actually looks like the sea) but its completely brown (I nick named it the poopy water). It's brown all year ... Jose said it was the Iguazu river flowing into this one that caused the color.
