Cornorvado and Sugarloaf Mountain

Set out at 9am for Cornorvado (the hill on which the statue of Christ The Redeemer is built). Our guide Mario recommended taking the incline railway up to the top ... But we were worried cause the skies were very cloudy. When we got up there, you could barely make out the statue or the surrounding landscape because the fog was so thick. To compound things further it started to rain ... So I started planning to perhaps try the next day ... Mario told us to just wait and things most probably will clear up ... About 30 minutes later you could see everything beginning to clear ... It turned out to be a great tour. The statue is 30' high and 28' wide ... Made from metal encased with soapstone and was built to celebrate Brazils 100 years of independence
