The major market place in Salvador is mercado modelo- fun fun fun.
Bus ride home was also interesting. Note to self make correction to fun facts, 'We in Salvador are calm and carefree except for when we are driving'.
Well, we made it back to the hotel in record time- I leaped to stop bus 1488 from leaving without us.
Note to self-Hesitate, and you may lose a limb.
The bus driver overtook other buses, taxis, pedestrians just to be able to make traffic lights (which he went thru a couple red anyway). Honked the horn at anyone attempting to park or hinder his personal mission to scare the crap out of his passengers! He swerved and maneuvered like in formula one driver, disregarding the height of traffic, that he was driving a bus, missing trees, people and motorbikes by a sliver- all while holding a perfectly calm conversation with what only could have been a bus driver evaluator. He made his whole bus route in 15 minutes flat. No injuries. More aggressive than London buses (or taxis for that matter),Mexico buses, Dubai, New York and LA all put together!
Green means go, red means go faster.
We loved him right away (and he winked at me as I fell out of the bus when he came to one of his famous 'tuck and roll' rolling stops :o)
Sigh.
